Chico Xavier

Francisco Candido Xavier, known as Chico Xavier, was born inPedro Leopoldo, a modest town of Minas Gerais, Brazil, on April 2, 1910.

Since 1959 he has lived  in Uberaba, in the same state where he died on June 30, 2002.
His death occurred peacefully in his home, where he was found serene, still in an attitude of praying to God. As revealed by the most intimate friends, he had the desire to go on a day when the“Brazilian people were very happy.”  At this day Brazil has won the world Cup.

Parents: João Cândido Xavier and Mary John of God, departed in 1960 and 1915, respectively.

He did got not study, having completed primary school only.

Since 4 years old, the little boy had his life marked by physical manifestations. His father came even to believe that his son was weird.

Of Catholic formation, the boy lived with extreme devotion, as his mother taught him, which left him orphaned at five years. In major conflicts and extreme difficulties, the child grew with a good heart, incapable of an obscene word, a gesture of contempt. However, the  friendly “shadows” did not left him …

He talked to the disembodied mother. He heard comforting voices. At school, he felt their presence, assisting him in the usual tasks. What is certain is that the early years marked him deeply; he never forgot them.
The need to work early to help with household expenses was in his life, as he himself says, an indefinable Blessing.

His health has always been sensible, accompanied by diseases. First the lungs, while working in the weaving mill; after the eye cataracts;now is angina pectoris.

He had a quite difficult Childhood ; He was warehouse clerk and modest civil servant, retired since 1958. On July 8, 1927  Chico Xavier began publicly his mediunic work  in Pedro Leopoldo. Counting 17 years of age, he received the first psychic pages. In memorable night, the spirits have initiated one of the most beautiful works in the whole history of mankind.Seventeen sheets of paper were filled, swiftly, dealing with the duties of the Christian-Spiritist.

Testimony of Chico Xavier (…) “It was a cold night and thecompanions which were settled at the table, followed  me the movements of the arm, curious and moved.
The room was not great, but at the beginning of the first transmission of a comunication through me, I felt out of my own physical body, although with him.

However, while the messenger wrote the seventeen pages devotedto us, my normal vision experienced significant change. The walls that limited the space were disappeared. The roof as it fell apartand fixing my eyes on high, could see stars that flickered in the dark of night. However, glancing look at the environment, I noticed that a whole assembly of fraternal groups stared at me with sympathy and kindness, in whose guessed expression, by spontaneous telepathy, who encouraged me in silence for thework to be done, above all, encouraging me. “

The Spirit Emmanuel, in the early mediumship of Chico Xavier, gave him two basic guidelines for the work they should play. Out of any of them, everything would be foiled.

Here is the first. – “Are you really willing to work onmediumship with Jesus?

Yes, if the good spirits do not leave me … – answered the medium.
–
You will not be forsaken – told him Emmanuel – but this requires you to work, study and strive in good.
– And do you think I’m in a position to accept the compromise? –Asked the medium Chico.
–
Perfectly, since you look respect the three basic points forservice …

Because the protector shut up, the young man asked: – What is the first?  The answer was firm: – Discipline. – And the second? – Discipline. – And the third? Discipline.”

In 1932 the Spiritist Brazilian Federation  published his first book, the famous “Parnassus from Beyond the Grave“;
Today are summed 416 psychographic books. Several of them are translated and published in Spanish, Esperanto, French, English, Japanese, Greek, etc.
With immaculate moral, really humble and simple, Chico Xavier never received benefits for any kind of mediumship.

His private and public life has been the subject of every possible speculation in the spoken, written and televised information.
Nicknames and hurtful criticism, have accompanied him throughout his fleshly journey. He, in turn, knowing support them with true Christian spirit.

His life, truly apostolic, dedicated the medium, the suffering and the needy, stemmed from distant places and also to mediators affairs, for which he did not accept any kind of payment for his mediumship.
Since his first book, he gave the copyright,
gracefully, to several publishers and Spiritist Houses

Francisco Candido Xavier psychographic more than 400(four hundred) psychic works, hundreds of spiritual authors, covering the most diverse and different issues, including poetry, novels, short stories, essays, general history and Brazil, science, religion, philosophy, children’s literature , etc. Faithful to Christ-principle of“Give for free what you receive for free,” never enjoyed the copyright from his extraordinary psychic, always, on the contrary, passing them in office, the spiritist disclosure publishers and numerous charities.

Chico Xavier left, but the testimony  and example of his life remain a safe guideline for all who espouse theSpiritist and Christians ideals,  especially those who, voluntarily find themselves committed to the difficult task of mediumship exchange. His embarrassing humility and his detachment, hardly understood even to many fellow, was the most remarkable and striking manifestation of the greatness of his Spirit.

The truth is that, after Allan Kardec, Chico Xavier has always represented the tree of spiritual revelation, which was transported from France to Brazil. His psychic work synthesizes priceless legacy for future generations. As worthy missionaries in the spirit world, Chico and Kardec identify themselves in many ways, especially in unusual literary production capacity. Both left a vast work of unusual moral-cultural content. It is remarkable also the absolute fidelity to the spiritual commitments as well as the perfect balance of the three fold doctrinal aspect of Spiritism: Religion, Science and Philosophy.

Another peculiarity between the two was to, never debase the level of their opponents and enemies of the doctrine, keeping always up in dignity and brotherhood to them.

Strengthened in the purest Christian morality, he gave his testimony of unconditional service to humanity, believing truly in the delicate and transforming force of good that motivated them.
The greatness of Chico, as well as Kardec clearly can be evaluated in explicit testimony of their lives and their works because of good trees only picks up good results.

A Message for you:

Jesus Christ did not ask much from us, He did not demand that  people climb Mount Everest or make great sacrifices.  He just asked that we love one another.ChicoXavier

Every little bit of peace I bring someone is worth the peace I never had.

When each one of us become an active and living book of  lessons for those who see our examples, the boundaries of religious interpretation will give way to the new era of brotherhood  and peace we’re waiting for.

We need to get rid of hate, envy, jealousy, discord in ourselves, so we can reach a solution in terms of peace in order to feel that time has come for human happiness. Do not be angry with an ungrateful person; probably they are confused or inexperienced. Avoid trouble with those who are fanatics; they remain imprisoned in exclusivism and deserve compassion just as any other prisoner.

When we have faith and discipline everything becomes easier. Patience is the mother of all virtues. With anxiety all our lives become worse.

The soul that acquires the virtue of forgiveness won’t find any more trouble. No matter what happens, he will know how to run his life …

In terms of changes, the spiritual mentors teach me that I must not forget those relating primarily to improve myself. I’m not irreplaceable … I’m nothing but grass growing on the ground; when the grass dies, another one replaces it …” Chico Xavier

Source:. The Spiritualist Miner“, number 205, April / June 1988. Words Chico Xavier contemplating 40 years of mediumship These forty years of mediumship came to my heart as if they were a good dream were forty years of plenty joy, in whose paths made of minutes and hours and days, only found benefits, happiness, hope, optimism, some of the encouragement of all those the Lord has given me, family members, siblings, friends and colleagues. Forty years of happiness I thank God in your hearts, because I feel that God has given to me in your hearts, which represent many other hearts, which are absent from us.

Now, I feel that God has given me through you, a life touched of joys and blessings, as I could not get in any other job sector in humanity. Kissing you, so, hands, hearts. As for the book, I must say that on one occasion many years ago, looking for the contact with the Spirit of our Emmanuel benefactor, at the foot of an old dam, in the land that gave me cot in this incarnation, frequently came to the place, by the morning, before dawn.

And when the day comes again, it was sunny, it was rain, there was, not far from me, a small pond. This pond, gradually was filled with flowers, by the mercy of God, of course. And many good souls, dear hearts, passing the same way in which we prayed, picked these flowers and took with them, with joy and enchantment transport, while the pond was always the same pond.
Of course, also waiting for the mercy of God, to become more profitable and useful land.

I believe that in these moments, when I hear the words of these wonderful hearts, who used the verb to comment on the appearance of these hundred books, now one hundred and two books, I remember this picture that never left my memory, to declare to you that I feel, in the pond condition that, by the mercy of God, one day received these flowers are the books that belong more to you other than to myself.

I pray, therefore, to all the partners who help me through prayer, so that the natural struggle of life can drain the swampy land that I am still in the privacy of my heart, that I may one day serve God in accordance with duties that His infinite mercy drew me. And I ask then allowed, in gratitude, since I have no words to express my gratitude. I beseech you all, leave to end my word unpretentious, with the prayer that our Lord Jesus Christ has given us. “
